Ingredients

Frosting

  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Candy sprinkles, if desired

    Place 1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury™ sugar cookie dough, 1 egg yolk, and 1/2 cup all-purpose flour in large bowl. (DO NOT EAT RAW COOKIE DOUGH AFTER COMBINING WITH EGG YOLK AND FLOUR.) Beat with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.

    Scoop 2-tablespoon-size balls of cookie dough onto cookie sheets covered with silicone baking mats or cooking parchment paper. Refrigerate dough balls 15 minutes. Heat oven to 350°F.

    Bake chilled cookies 12 to 14 minutes or until light brown. Cool completely before frosting.

    In medium bowl, beat 3 tablespoons softened butter, 3 cups powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed. Add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired frosting consistency. Frost cookies. Decorate with sprinkles. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Prep Instructions

HEAT oven to 350°F (or 325°F for nonstick cookie sheet).

PLACE cookie dough rounds on ungreased cookie sheet.

BAKE 12 to 14 minutes*. Cookie surface and edges will be pale in color. DO NOT OVERBAKE. 

COOL 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet.

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup margarine or butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

Steps

    In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix well. Using fork or pastry blender, cut in 1 cup margarine until mixture is crumbly. In small bowl, beat eggs. Gradually add sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and lemon extract, beating until light. Add to flour mixture in large bowl. Stir by hand until dough forms. (If necessary, knead dough with hands to mix in dry ingredients.) Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 1 hour for easier handling.

    Heat oven to 375°F. On lightly floured surface, roll out 1/3 of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. (Keep remaining dough refrigerated.) Cut with 2 1/2 to 3-inch floured cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. If desired, decorate with decorator sugar or multicolored candy sprinkles.

    Bake at 375°F. for 6 to 11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets. Cool 15 minutes or until completely cooled.

    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
    • 2 to 4 tablespoons milk
    • Food color, if desired
    • Candy sprinkles, if desired

      Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, break up cookie dough; thoroughly work in flour. (DO NOT EAT RAW COOKIE DOUGH AFTER COMBINING WITH FLOUR.) Work with half of dough at a time, refrigerating remaining dough until needed.

      On floured work surface, roll dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut with floured 2 1/2- to 3-inch holiday-shaped cookie cutters; place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Repeat with remaining dough.

      Bake 8 to 11 minutes or until cookies are set and edges just begin to brown. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.

      In small bowl, mix powdered sugar, vanilla and almond extract. Add enough milk until smooth and desired spreading consistency. Stir in food color until well blended. Spread on cookies; sprinkle with candy sprinkles. Let stand until icing is set, about 15 minutes. Store between sheets of waxed paper in tightly covered container.
