Milam’s Markets to Open Sixth Store at Link at Douglas

One of South Florida's champions of local artisans, family-owned and operated grocer Milam’s Markets is expanding. In spring 2022, they’re opening a new market at the Link at Douglas, a seven-acre mixed-use development at the Douglas Road Metrorail Station that includes 1,500 residential units, retail and office space, and a plaza connecting with The Underline.

“We look forward to blending the Milam’s culture and décor with an evolving modern community and we are excited to meet the future residents of Link at Douglas,” says marketing head Kristie Milam, one of 11 family members involved in the business. “Since it is adjacent to the Metrorail, we are assuming [customers] will be UM students, young professionals, those utilizing the Metrorail to get to and from work, or those who live on the west side of US 1.”

Milam says the store will continue to sell an assortment of foods made by local artisans, including baked goods, sweets, vegan products, sauces and drinks. As with their other stores in Coconut Grove, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles Beach, Coral Gables and Miami Springs, the new location will adjust its offerings according to customer needs. “Luckily, being a hyper-focused and local company allows us to do that since we don’t have a chain of command or corporate office in another state,” she says. “Prepared foods will be similar to the Grove store – more grab and go – since we believe the self-serve meal era is coming to an end from COVID.”

Link at Douglas caters to residents who are looking for ways to avoid road traffic through public transit while seeking a more connected lifestyle. In addition to connecting to Metrorail, county buses and municipal trolleys, the development will incorporate over $17 million in public infrastructure improvements. Milam's Markets is part of Link at Douglas' strategy to develop a cohesive project with an attractive mix of uses that will transform the area, say developers. “We are thrilled that our future residents and visitors will have a best-in-class grocer as part of our cutting-edge transit-oriented development,” says Adam Maits, who leads retail leasing for the Adler 13th Floor Joint Venture.

Milam’s Markets – Local Partner Spotlight

Milam’s Markets is a family-owned grocer in South Florida and has been a neighborhood staple for more than 40 years. In addition to providing groceries to residents, Milam’s has always been there to serve the community in a time of need, giving back in many ways. From May 20 to June 13, Milam’s Markets will be collecting donations at the registers to benefit Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital serves a diverse patient population, with nearly 70% of families who are covered by Medicaid. Nicklaus Children’s is South Florida’s only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children, with nearly 800 attending physicians and more than 475 pediatric subspecialists.

We do our best to meet patient needs, ensuring we deliver the best care for every child every day – but we rely on donations and community support to make it happen!

Donations made during this month’s Milam’s Market campaign will support our work to provide pediatric healthcare to our patients, including the uninsured and underserved. Last year, in the midst of the pandemic, Milam’s Markets raised nearly $40,000 to benefit Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and we are excited to see how far they come in 2021.

Thank you, Milam’s Market shoppers and employees, for making children’s health a priority!

This is a high end supermarket with quality products and excellent presentation. Prices here may be higher here but you’re getting top quality and fresh products. Nice selection of meats, seafood & prepared foods. Staff here is friendly, helpful and diversified.

Who doesn't love healthy, organic, overpriced grocery stores? Milam's is my guilty pleasure. They have amazing goodies, great hot food station, great VEGAN SELECTION. They have some brands I have never even seen! It's pretty fancy swancy, but totally worth it.

After returning home from deployment of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, Thomas Milam saw in opportunity for work with the tremendous amount of “mom and pop” style grocery stores opening up in the United States. In 1950 he began employment with a large food wholesaler called Malone & Hyde. After 26 years of working with the company he was transferred to Miami, FL as a division manager to help with the success of independent grocers.

Allen Milam, Thomas’s son, always wanted to be in the grocery industry. At 21 years old, Thomas told Allen to learn the business and when he retired they could open their own store together. Allen spent 8 years learning all aspects of grocery retail- starting as a stock clerk and working his way up to management positions. In 1983, Allen and Thomas decided it was time to embark on a new journey as an independent grocery retailer in Miami. Together they took over a former Grand Union at 5767 Bird Rd., just west of Coral Gables., and opened as a franchisee of the Piggly Wiggly grocery chain. Five years later Allen and Thomas decided to change the name to Milam’s Market,[3] which remains in operation today.[1]

    Milam’s Market Haul

No, that will not do. I, first of all, turned on the water in the sink and took off my T-shirt so as not to soak it, thoroughly washed all my charms with. Soap, and the second thing, of course, was caressing the pussy.

    Now discussing:

Everything is as I intended. I want you to see. My penis pierces her a few centimeters from your eyes, I take it, and you see everything down to the smallest details.
