These Modified 3rd-Gen Camaros Look Much Better Than Expected

The battle for pony car supremacy between the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro assumed a new dimension with the release of the third-generation Camaro in 1981. Although built on the same F-body platform from the previous generation, the third-generation Camaro has unique features compared to other generations.

Notably, the third-generation lasted till 1992 and showcased iconic models such as the IROC-Z, RS, and Z28, models that make the Camaro suitable for both track and daily driving duties. Hence, just like these awesomely modified fourth-generation Camaros we've previously featured, we found some amazingly modified third-generation Camaros with such great looks that exceed our expectations.

10 Nicholas Morrow’s 1992 Camaro RS

Notably, the only component left stock on this 1992 Camaro is its engine. The car belongs to Nicholas Morrow, who discovered it as it was rotting away in someone’s backyard and bought it for the measly sum of $500. The Camaro has now been so extremely modified it got featured on “The Smoking Tire.”

Also, the car is fitted with specially made suspension and aero components, and it is six inches wider than stock. Furthermore, it features a carbon fiber front splitter and rear spoiler.

9 Jim Reid Jr.’s 1987 Camaro

Thanks to dad (Jim Sr.) who is a racing enthusiast and also the owner of the prestigious Reid’s Automotive, racing was all Jim Reid Jr. knew while growing up. To carry on the family’s racing tradition, Reid Jr. acquired this 1987 6-cylinder Camaro to build a racer that suited him.

The racing Camaro is now powered by a 305 block that’s been increased to a 317ci displacement. The car is finished in jet-black paint which was applied by Ron Fortin while graphics was done by Jay Dennehy.

8 Brain Wise’s 1982 Camaro

Brain Wise bought this 1982 Chevy Camaro from his friends Jim and Monika Frendt after he had crashed his racer to scrap. As soon as he test-fitted the drive train, Wise took the car to his friend and fabricator Tim Webb for most of the upgrade work.

This includes a massive Nitrous Outlet fogger system for the liberation of an additional 800 horsepower, culminating in a total output of 1,100 horsepower. The car is painted in PPG Arctic White by Jake Delmonico.

7 Preston Edmonds’ 1983 Camaro

Kentucky-based Preston Edmonds was 16 years old when he got this 1983 Chevy Camaro as a first ride. However, after 18 years of gradual modification, the car now looks and acts like the Camaro of his dreams. The wheels are a set of Weld Racing Draglites while drag radial tires provide needed racing traction.

The interior remains stock, however, Edmonds swapped the stock seat for Trans Am bucket seats. Finally, Rusty Edwards was contracted for the car’s fresh coat.

6 Mike McLin’s 1990 Camaro

When you shun conventionality, you’ll unavoidably end up with a product that’ll catch people’s attention – such as this modified 1990 Chevrolet Camaro. Mike McLin hired Heidts Hot Rod and Muscle Car Parts to build it, and they used it to showcase the company’s new Pro-G independent rear suspension and subframe at SEMA in 2015.

All the modifications were done in metal with prominent stretched fenders built to accommodate the car’s new wide wheels. Simply put, the build is terrific.

5 1983 Chevrolet Camaro

When a properly built car is adorned in the right shade of yellow, it often looks like a stroke of automotive fabrication genius. Here, we have a 1983 Chevrolet Camaro powered by a fuel-injected small-block V8 engine tucked under the car’s custom-ducted hood.

Also, the Camaro features a massive amount of chrome works while the engine adorns the same paint as the car. The interior has some basic upgrades, such as a Grant GT steering wheel, and pedal dress-up kit.

4 Justina’s 1989 Camaro

This modified 1989 Chevy Camaro was built by a 15-year-old girl named Justina. Buoyed by her dad – Jeff Schwarts – who owns Schwartz Performance custom shop, Justina did most of the upgrading job by herself, with her dad helping with few things that were beyond her skill level.

The mod includes boring and rebuilding a 350 into 355 ci and mating it to a new 700-R4 transmission, among other modifications in a project that gulped 20 months of Justina’s time.

3 Kyle Tucker’s 1987 Camaro

Owned by Kyle Tucker, this 1987 Chevrolet Camaro was assembled in the DSE. Although the car was ugly and clapped out when Tucker bought it, he had some luck as no noticeable rust was discovered on it. The interior is fitted with a roll cage and Cobra race seats.

Also, it features custom front bumper and fiberglass work which was done by DSE’s Matt Butts while the exquisitely finished body and PPG GM bright blue metallic paintwork were handled by Michael Neighbors and Austin Moore.

2 Mike Kanimoto’s 1989 IROC-Z

Mike Kanimoto of Campbell Auto Restoration bought his Camaro IROC-Z fresh from the factory in 1989, he has raced it ever since. Under the hood, Kanimoto’s Camaro is fitted with a nicely painted 383 with Accel cam, SLP intake runners, and headers as well as Trick Flow Heads.

Putting the resultant power on asphalt is a combination of Falken Azenis 650K tires on XXR 526 wheels. All these nicely compliment the car’s glorious red-painted angular bodylines.

1 Brandon Pursley’s 1991 Camaro

Brandon Pursley bought this 1991 Chevy Camaro in the year 2000 when he suddenly stumbled upon the car with a “for sale” sale on it. Calling it his dream car, Pursley proceeded to modify the car straight away with lower springs and bigger wheels.

Keen attention was given to the car both under the hood and on the exterior. It features a handmade carbon-fiber hood and was painted exquisitely black by Trent Eastman.

Brought tons of pornography with me, downloaded to my phone. Everything written above is a small introduction, so that it is clear to you that I have completely forgotten in this village. Now I start describing the events that happened to me.
