ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio -

A power outage in Athens that affected over 18, people has been taken care of.

Most people had their power back by 1 a.m. By late morning, only 80 customers were still without power. Now, everyone affected has power back, according to AEP Ohio.

Crews worked through the afternoon and night, replacing the broken pole that caused the outage.

In response to the situation, the city of Athens opened an emergency warming station at the Athens Community Center yesterday.

Mayor Patterson said it was more than an uncomfortable situation.

“It’s a dangerous situation to be in. You know, to have complete power loss for the entire city or almost the entire city,”

Patterson said police and firefighters were a part of the emergency response. Police drove around doing visual well checks while firefighters were at the ready. There were multiple instances of people being stuck in elevators, mostly at Ohio University.

The outage, which started around 2 p.m. Friday, has impacted more than 15, AEP customers in Athens County.

You can read more about the outage below.

UPDATE: 1/22/21 P.M.

The City of Athens has opened an emergency warming station in the Athens Community Center while AEP crews continue working to restore power to around 16, customers throughout the county Friday evening.

City officials say the building has heating and lighting, but outlets for charging personal devices may be limited.

They also say anyone coming to get warmed up will have to follow COVID guidelines, including wearing a mask.

AEP Ohio said in a social media post that the outage, which started around 2 p.m., was caused by a broken pole.

Company officials estimate power will be restored around 9 a.m. Saturday.

The warming station will be open until the outage is over.

UPDATE: 11/22/21 P.M.

The broken pole that caused the outage Friday afternoon will have to be replaced and crews say it is difficult to access.

Company officials estimate power will be restored around 9 a.m. Saturday.

UPDATE: 11/22/21 P.M.

AEP Ohio has determined the cause of the outage still affecting thousands of customers in Athens County.

A post on the company’s Twitter says a secluded pole that carries electricity to multiple stations that send power all over the area has broken.

Crews are working to repair the damage, but company officials are still unsure of when power may come back.

Widespread power outages across Southeast Ohio the result of broken high-voltage line outside Chauncey

Thousands of power outages were reported across Southeast Ohio Friday afternoon due to a broken high-voltage power line on Route 13 outside of Chauncey.

The high-voltage power line connects to an AEP Ohio station that supplies power to homes and buildings across Athens County, Deanna Gilliland, communications consultant for AEP Ohio, said.

AEP Ohio estimated that the power will return by 9 a.m. on Saturday according to the company’s Twitter account. An automated system originally reported that the outage would be fixed by 6 p.m., but AEP Ohio rescinded that estimation after crews were able to assess the damages.

As of 8 p.m., 16, households are affected by the outage, according to AEP Ohio’s outage map.

People can sign up for text alerts specific to their address for instant updates here.

Ohio University is within the service area out of power. The university sent text messages to students explaining the power outage and a link to its alert website for more updates as they come.

The residence halls at Ohio University all lost power. The campus WiFi is still working for students in the midst of the widespread power outage. However, students who use Spectrum received emails that said their internet service would be down until pm.

All classes at the university were also cancelled for the rest of the day.

For students who eat at dining halls, Nelson Court and Boyd Hall will open as scheduled; however all other dining venues will be open as the power is restored.

Jack Pepper, administrator for the Athens City-County Health Department, said the health department has backup generators for COVID vaccines in deep freezers in case of a power outage.

I drove up to the school at the same time as the policeman, Ford. "The opera immediately began interrogating the guards and school staff, and Mishchenko began to question the headmistress. The school where Irishka studied was elite and expensive. Cameras around the perimeter and in the corridors, security at the entrance We reviewed the recordings from the cameras.

I looked up from his cock and pulled off his jeans and socks. And again he began to suck, then began to lick and swallow his beautiful large eggs. He lifted his legs and I opened his hole in the ass, neat without a single hair, I began to lick and caress her while continuing to. Jerk off his dick. How grateful I was to Sasha that we tried all this many times.

I stroked and rubbed honey on one leg, Dasha on the other. He poured 50 grams of vodka into a glass, ordered the woman to drink. She drank and coughed. Her body completely relaxed and her head was a little dizzy.
