Tunnelblick is anopen source graphic user interface forSSL VPNon Macintosh (Mac) OS X. It comes as a ready-to-use application with all necessary binaries and drivers.It does not require any additional installation. You just need to add the VPN tunnel configuration and encryption information.
Tunnelblick Client can be used to establish SSL VPN connection between Mac OS and Cyberoam.
Configure SSL VPN for Mac OS X using Tunnelblick VPN client.
You can configure SSL VPN for Mac OS X using Tunnelblick VPN client by following the steps below. Configuration is to be done in Cyberoam and Mac OS using profile having read-write administrative rights for relevant features.
Step 1: Configure SSL VPN with Tunnel Access Mode in Cyberoam

Step 2: Download and Install Tunnelblick Client
Download Tunnelblick Client fromhttp://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/ and install it on your Mac workstation.
Step 3: Download Cyberoam SSL VPN Client Configuration
To download Cyberoam SSL VPN Client Configuration, follow the steps below.
• Access Cyberoam SSL VPN Portal using the URL -https://<WAN IP address of Cyberoam:port>and login to the Portal.
• ClickDownload SSL VPN Client Configuration – MAC Tunnelblickto download the client configuration specific for Mac OS and save it in your system.
A compressed file calledclientbundle.taris downloaded and saved in your system.
Step 4: Extract clientbundle.tar
Double-click clientbundle.tar to extract it.
A folder named ‘clientbundle’ is extracted, which contains Two (2) files: CRSSLconfig.tblk and Passphrase.txt.
CRSSLconfig.tblk: This is a Tunnelblick configuration file containing information about the VPN configuration with Cyberoam and CA Certificate.
Passphrase.txt: This file contains the passphrase to be used by user during SSL VPN Authentication.
Passphrase.txt is present in the clientbundle ONLY IF configured in Cyberoam. For more details refer to articleHow To - Obtain the Passphrase for SSL VPN Authentication.
Step 5: Install Configuration in Tunnelblick
Double-clickCRSSLconfig.tblkto install the Cyberoam SSL configuration in Tunnelblick. The following screen appears.
If you want to install the configuration for all users of the system, clickAll Users. Else, clickOnly Me. The VPN configuration for Cyberoam gets installed in Tunnelblick.
Step 6: Establish SSL VPN Connection with Cyberoam
• Launch Tunnelblick Client fromFinder > Applications > Tunnelblick.app. Click the Tunnelblick icon that appears on the top left corner of the screen and clickConnect CRSSLconfig.
• Login to establish an SSL VPN connection with Cyberoam at remote site.
The above configuration applies Cyberoam SSL VPN Client Configuration to Tunnelblick client in Mac OS X and establishes an SSL VPN connection with Cyberoam at a remote site.

Configuring SSL VPN for Mac OS X using Tunnelblick VPNYou can configure SSL VPN for Mac OS X using the Tunnelblick VPN by following the steps below.
Download and install Tunnelblick Client
- Download the latest version of the Tunnelblick for MAC from https://tunnelblick.net/downloads.html.
- Put the file in the Applications folder and install the file.
Download and connect with the OVPN file
- Download file from user portal Download Configuration for Other OSs in format.
- Double-click the configuration file to open it in Tunnelblick.
- Click Connect.
- It will show as Connected at the top of the screen.

SSL VPN Client for Mac OS
The SSL VPN client for Mac OS is Hillstone Secure Connect. It can run on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and above. The encrypted data can be transmitted between the SSL VPN client and SSL VPN server after a connection has been established successfully. The functions of the client are:
- Establish the SSL VPN connection with the SSL VPN server.
- Show the connection status, traffic statistics, and route information.
- Show log messages.
Downloading and Installing Client
Visit https://www.hillstonenet.com/products/next-gen-firewalls-e-series/ to download the installation file of the client.
After downloading the installation file, double-click it. In the pop-up, drag SCVPN to Applications to perform the installation.
To open the installation file, you must have the administrator permission and select Anywhere in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Allow apps downloaded from.
Starting Client and Establishing Connection
To start the client and establish the connection with the server side, take the following steps:
- In Mac OS, select Launchpad > SCVPN. The client starts.
- Click New. The Create connection profile window appears.
- Provide the following information and then click OK.
- Name: Specify a name for this VPN connection.
- Description: Specify the description for this VPN connection.
- Server: Enter the IP address or the server name of the device that acts as the VPN server.
- Port: Enter the HTTPs port number of the device.
- Username: Enter the login name.
- Password: Enter the corresponding password.
- Rememberpassword : Select this check box to remember the password.
- GMSSL: Select this check box to use the GM SSL protocol.
- Select the connection name in the connection list.
- In the toolbar, click Connect. If you do not select Remember password in step 3, enter the password in the pop-up and then click OK.
- If token authentication is enabled on the SSL VPN server, the token Authentication dialog will appear. Type the authentication code and click Submit. If you have not received the authentication code within one minute, you can re-apply.
After the client connects to the SSL VPN server, the status bar displays Connection established. Meanwhile, the notification area of Mac displays . The encrypted data can be transmitted between the SSL VPN client and SSL VPN server now.
The GUI of the client includes four areas: toolbar, connection list, connection information, and status bar.
In the toolbar, you can perform the following actions:
- Connect: Select a connection from the connection list and then click Connect. The client starts to establish the connection with server side.
- New: Create a new connection. For details, see Starting Client and Establishing Connection.
- Modify: Select a connection from the connection list and then click Modify. For details of modifying the parameters, see Starting Client and Establishing Connection.
- Delete: Select a connection from the connection list and then click Delete to delete this connection.
- Settings: Set to minimize the client when the connection is established and select whether to check the update of the client when it starts.
- Cancel: Click this button to cancel the connection. When the client is connecting to the server side, this button will display.
- Disconnect: Disconnect the current connection. After the connection is established, this button will display.
- Info: View the channel information and the route information of the current connection. After the connection is established, this button displays.
Displays all created connections.
When selecting a connection in the connection list, the connection information area displays the corresponding information of this connection.
After establishing the connection, the connection information area displays the connection duration, server IP address, the IP assigned to the client, the number of packets sent/received through the SSL VPN tunnel, and the bytes sent/received through the SSL VPN tunnel.
Displays the connection status.
The SCVPN item in the menu includes the following options:
- About SCVPN: Displays the information of this client.
- Quit SCVPN: Quit the client.
The Logging item in the menu includes the following options:
- View: View the logs.
- Level: Select the log level. When selecting the lower level in the menu, the displayed logs will include the logs of upper level. However, when selecting the upper level in the menu, the displayed logs will not include the logs of lower level.

This documentation is for users running VMWare SSL VPN.
You can use this document to install a 64-bit SSL VPN client that's compatible with macOS version 10.11 and higher.
Armor's SSL VPN client is currently not compatible with macOS Big Sur. For macOS Big Sur users, Armor will provide access to an alternate VPN client.
To request access, please open a ticket with support.
Step 1: Download the SSL VPN client
- In the Armor Management Portal (AMP), in the left-side navigation, click Infrastructure.
- Click SSL VPN.
- On the Clients tab, click Download SSL VPN client.
- AMP will automatically detect your operating system; however, you can click Download for another platform to download the client for macOS.
- This action will download the Armor-VpnSetup.tgz file.
Step 2: Uninstall existing SSL VPN clients
Follow these instructions if you already have the SSL VPN client installed. Failure to complete this step may lead to issues with installing the version you just downloaded.
Although many macOS applications can be uninstalled by drag-and-dropping the application bundle to your Trash, this is not recommended for the VMWare SSL VPN client because it may have background processes which are not fully cleaned-up. Instead, use one of the following methods:
Method 1: via the command line
- If currently using the SSL VPN client, navigate to naclient > Quit Naclient (or use the keyboard shortcut Command-Q)
- Navigate to your computer’s Applications folder
- Launch the Terminal application
In the command line, submit the following command:sudo sh /opt/sslvpn-plus/naclient/uninstall_gui.sh
- Monitor the uninstall process to completion
- Reboot your system
Method 2: via the UI
- Run the SSL VPN client, if not already doing so
- Within the macOS menu bar, click on the naclient icon
- Select the Uninstall option:
Step 3: Install the SSL VPN client
- In your machine, right-click the downloaded file, and then click Open. This action will extract a directory called mac_phat_client.
- Inside the mac_phat_client directory, open the naclient.pkg file.
- If you see a warning about an invalid certificate, click Continue, and then continue with the installation. Select Macintosh HD as the installation disk.
- You will receive an error that says System Extension Blocked, with an explanation that mentions Mattias Nissler. You must enable these extensions; access your security preferences, and then click Allow for the application.
- If you cannot allow the application, you must reboot your machine.
- After you reboot, access your security preferences, and then click Allow for the appliance.
- When you exit the installer, a pop-up to move the installer to trash will appear. Click Keep.
- In the Applications folder, double-click the naclient application, and then log into the application.
- Your SSL VPN login credentials are the same credentials you use to access the Armor Management Portal (AMP).

Set up a VPN connection on Mac
To connect to a virtual private network (VPN), you need to enter configuration settings in Network preferences. These settings include the VPN server address, account name, and any authentication settings, such as a password or a certificate you received from the network administrator.
If you received a VPN settings file from your network administrator, you can import it to set up your connection. If you didn’t, you can enter the settings manually.
Import a VPN settings file
On your Mac, do one of the following:
Double-click the file to open Network preferences and automatically import the settings.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Network, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Import Configurations. Select the file, then click Import.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

Click the Add button in the list at the left, click the Interface pop-up menu, then choose VPN.
Click the VPN Type pop-up menu, then choose what kind of VPN connection you want to set up, depending on the network you are connecting to. Give the VPN service a name, then click Create.
L2TP is an extension of the Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol used by internet service providers to enable a VPN over the internet.
IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) is a set of security protocols.
IKEv2 is a protocol that sets up a security association in IPSec.
Enter the server address and the account name for the VPN connection.
Click Authentication Settings, then enter the information you received from the network administrator.
If specified by your network administrator, click Advanced to enter additional information such as session options, TCP/IP settings, DNS servers, and proxies.
The additional information you can enter depends on the type of VPN connection you’re setting up.
Click Apply, then click OK.
Select “Show VPN status in menu bar” to use the VPN status icon to connect to the network and switch between VPN services.
To remove the VPN configuration, select the VPN network connection service in the list and click the Remove button .
